My recent work for horn and piano, Horn of Valere, is going to be premiered by Emily Hush at her final bachelor’s recital in Redpath Hall (McGill University) in Montreal, Canada. The piece was composed specifically for Emily at here request; thematically, it is a representation of the events revolving around the fictional “Horn of Valere” from Robert Jordan’s epic Wheel of Time series. Jordan himself took the idea from Norse mythology, which I also allude to in the titles of the movements (e.g. Ragnarok, etc).
